Description: 

The EMT course provides foundational training in emergency medical services, preparing students to deliver critical care at the scene of an emergency and during transport. Covering basic life support skills, trauma response, and patient assessment techniques, this program emphasizes hands-on training and prepares students to handle a variety of urgent care situations. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to take the National Registry EMT certification exam, a key step in beginning a career in emergency response.

Skills Gained:

  • Basic life support (BLS) skills
  • Patient assessment and care in pre-hospital settings
  • Effective communication with patients and medical personnel
  • Trauma management and emergency response procedures

Career Pathways:

Graduates can work as EMTs in ambulances, hospitals, the fire service, and other emergency care settings, providing essential care and stabilizing patients until they reach the hospital.

Description: 

The AEMT program at Kilgore College builds upon basic EMT skills, advancing students’ knowledge in patient care with specialized techniques like airway management, IV therapy, and limited medication administration. This program balances classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience, allowing students to apply advanced patient assessment skills and respond effectively in emergency situations. Completing the AEMT program prepares students for certification and equips them with essential skills for expanded responsibilities in emergency care.

  • Advanced airway management and patient assessment
  • IV therapy and medication administration
  • Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiology

Career Pathways: 

Graduates are equipped for roles requiring intermediate life support capabilities in various emergency response and healthcare settings.

Description: 

Kilgore College’s Paramedic program provides comprehensive training in advanced life support (ALS) techniques, equipping students with the skills to manage complex medical and trauma cases. The curriculum includes in-depth study of EMS operations, emergency procedures, cardiology, and pharmacology, coupled with extensive practical training. Students are prepared to perform critical procedures, lead emergency response efforts, and sit for the National Registry Paramedic certification exam, positioning them for rewarding careers in paramedicine.

Skills Gained:

  • Advanced cardiac life support, including EKG interpretation and defibrillation
  • Comprehensive EMS operations and emergency response techniques
  • In-depth pharmacology for critical patient care

Career Pathways: 

Graduates are prepared for advanced paramedic positions within EMS agencies, hospitals, and specialized medical transport, where they provide essential life-saving care and often lead emergency response teams.
