Oil museum will feature ‘REEL Oil: Hollywood’s Oil Boom of the 1940s and 1950s’ exhibit debuting July 2

The exhibit will allow visitors to dive into the golden age of cinema and explore the fascinating world of oil as portrayed in classic films.

“Through the artwork and promotional materials created for the films, visitors to the museum can discover how Hollywood captured the excitement and drama of the oil boom era – from thrilling dramas to epic adventures,” said Olivia Moore, KC museum services director.

The exhibit features many examples of movie posters, insert posters and other promotional pieces. The items are on loan from Jeff Spencer, a petroleum historian and friend of the oil museum.

It will be on display through December.

“We are thankful for his work and dedication to preserving oilfield history,” Moore said.

The museum’s hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
