Kilgore College celebrates record-breaking enrollment of 7,288 students

Kilgore College is currently celebrating a significant milestone as it has achieved a record-breaking enrollment of 7,288 students.

The record enrollment figures are a testament to the college’s strategic planning and its ability to attract and retain students through exceptional academic and workforce offerings, state-of-the-art facilities and a supportive campus culture.

โ€œKilgore College’s ongoing emphasis on enhancing the student experience has contributed to this success,โ€ said Dr. Brenda Kays, KC president. โ€œWe focus on supporting our students throughout their entire educational journey โ€“ from their first interest in Kilgore College to graduation โ€“ whether they aim to earn a certificate, transfer to a four-year university or return to upskill or reskill in their careers. Our commitment to improving the student experience has truly made a difference.โ€

As KC celebrates this momentous occasion, it continues to solidify its reputation as a leading higher education institution dedicated to academic excellence and student success.

Dr. Tracy Skopek (VP of student learning, engagement & success/CAO) noted at the last board meeting that the number will only increase since students will also enroll for the Fall 2 semester.

The previous enrollment record was set in 2010 when 6,694 students were enrolled at the college. The enrollment figure at this time last year was 6,067 (a 20% increase from Fall 2023).

KC has also seen an 11% increase in the total number of credit hours being taken this semester, compared to the same time last year โ€“ and a 36% increase of dual credit students since the last academic year. โ€œWe can credit this enrollment record in part to our combined efforts to get students signed up for classes including โ€˜Star Days,โ€™ KC-sponsored events for admissions, advising, registration, text message campaigns and efforts by the financial aid department to help students complete the FAFSA to find ways to pay for classes,โ€ Skopek said. โ€œIt is truly a collective effort, and we are thrilled to have reached this significant milestone in setting a new record for student enrollment.โ€
