Adult Education and Literacy Enrollment Form

Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) providers must collect certain demographic and personal information from individuals seeking AEL services to comply with federal and state requirements. AEL providers' staff collecting this information are trained to obtain, maintain, and protect personally identifiable information. Students can request a copy of local privacy policies at any time. This document contains Personally Identifiable Information (PII). All entities with access to this document are expected to protect PII as instructed in TWC guidance: WD Letter 02-18 at all times.

AEL Program Information

Eligibility:

  • Participants must be 19 years of age or older.
  • Special Provisions for 17 and 18-year-olds:
    • 17 and 18-year-olds must provide proof of withdrawal from high school and a parental consent form, OR they must complete the Self-Attestation form.

  • Requirements for 16-Year-Olds:
    • Participants aged 16 may register if court-appointed.
    • Must provide a copy of the Court Order, parental/guardian/caseworker consent, and proof of withdrawal from high school.

Things to Bring to AEL Orientation Session:

  • Bring two forms of identification (if available): Acceptable Types of Identification
  • Bring basic school supplies, such as:
    • Pen(s)
    • Pencil(s)
    • Highlighter(s)
    • Notebook paper
    • Folder or Binder
    • Spiral
  • Positive Attitude!
  • Previous attendance in an AEL program
  • Course/program selection
  • Class location selection
