About Theatre (Drama)

The Kilgore College Theatre Department seeks to balance a rigorous production and performance schedule with a substantial and challenging academic experience. Small classes (average ratio: 1 to 16) allow each instructor to give students a great deal of individual attention, enhancing the probability of the student establishing good study habits and a higher GPA. Performances are held in the newly renovated Van Cliburn Auditorium. Opportunities for immediate performance assignments are an additional plus in this department. For more than 50 years the KC Theatre program has enjoyed an excellent reputation state-wide and the support of its administration and campus-wide faculty.

KC Theatre will present ‘Silent Sky’ Dec. 5-8 in Van Cliburn Auditorium

Kilgore College Theatre is proud to present Lauren Gunderson’s “Silent Sky,” directed by guest artist Jason Richards.

The production runs from Dec. 5-8 in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center, located on the Kilgore campus at 1200 S. Henderson Blvd.

“Silent Sky tells the remarkable true story of Henrietta Leavitt, a pioneering 19th Century astronomer whose discoveries reshaped our understanding of the stars,” said Micah Goodding, KC theatre instructor. “The play highlights both the scientific and societal challenges faced by women, offering a compelling look at determination, intellect and progress.”

KC Theatre will also hold an exclusive performance for local schools and community organizations 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6.
