Kilgore College officially broke ground — shovels, dirt and all — for its new CDL Driver Training Track to begin construction of a large driving track, classroom facility and warehouse training building as part of a major expansion of the KC Transportation Institute.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the future home of the new track, located at 4931 FM 349 in Kilgore โ next to the Texas Department of Public Safety Commercial Driverโs License Testing Office.
KCโs collaborative partnership with the Kilgore Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) resulted in securing the tract of land โ a large space that will allow for future expansions with the goal of becoming a fully equipped transportation training institute.
The college also worked closely with the City of Kilgore in the design and approval process of the project that will be constructed by RLM General Contractors.
Guest speakers at the groundbreaking included Dr. Brenda Kays, KC President; Dr. Tracy Skopek, KC Vice President of Instruction; Lisa Denton, Executive Director of the KEDC; DโWayne Shaw, KC Executive Dean of Professional & Career Education; and David Waters with Cudd Energy Services.
